Let’s be honest, not everyone has the time to spend 30 minutes in front of the mirror just to make sure their brows are perfect and on fleek. This is why microblading has risen in popularity. Who wouldn’t want to wake up every morning and go out without worrying if their brows are in place? But are you familiar with how the procedure work? So, before jumping into the trend, we have put together mostly asked questions about the procedure to give you more information and prepare you for what to expect.
-
What is Microblading? What is the difference with Eyebrow tattoo?
Eyebrow Microblading is a technique wherein a manual tool is used to insert or implant pigments, and recreate hair-like strokes to add volume and correct the shape of the eyebrows. Compared to older techniques, Microblading only reaches that fine line between the epidermis and dermis.
-
Does it hurt?
Eyebrow Embroidery or Eyebrow Microblading is relatively painless, especially with the anesthesia that we use at Skin House. After the first pass, we would again apply a liquid anesthesia to make sure the patient feels comfortable all throughout the treatment.
-
How long will it last?
Eyebrow Microblading usually lasts up to a year when done correctly. With precise depth, we recreate precise strokes that mimic the natural hair.
-
How long does the procedure last?
Measurements can take anywhere between 15 to 30 minutes; Anesthesia will be left on the eyebrows for 30 to 40 minutes, and the actual eyebrow microblading or embroidery procedure can take anywhere between 1 hour to 1.5 hours. The touch up will be shorter since it’s just a reinforcement of the pigments from the previous strokes.
-
Can I choose the color and shape?
Best to leave this to us. The shape will be based on the natural structure and symmetry of your face and the color will be based on the natural color of your hair.
-
Can I still put makeup on my brows after the procedure?
You can apply makeup on your eyebrows once peeling is over and the skin is back to normal.
-
Can I have it done if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
As a precaution, we don’t do the procedure for breastfeeding mothers. However, those who can make do without anesthesia may choose to proceed. Pregnancy is a definite contraindication for all the procedures in the clinic except for facials and fruit acid peels.
-
Is a retouch really required? When should you have it done?
Mandatory touch up is necessary to reinforce the pigments on the strokes. This is usually done 4 to 8 weeks after the initial session.
-
Will it still fade after the retouch?
The eyebrows would look 2 shades darker after the eyebrow microblading. This will fade within 2 weeks. By the 4th week, the eyebrows would look natural.
-
How long before it will fully heal?
The healing process varies per person but the superficial layer will heal within 7 days. After that, you could already apply makeup on the brows.
-
Are there things I should avoid before and after the procedure?
- Before the procedure, here are some of the things that should be avoided
- coffee/caffeine
- alcohol
- certain medications like Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, and other blood-thinners
- Peels, lasers, botox, and fillers 30 days prior to the treatment
What to expect after initial Microblading
- The pigment will be very dark during the first week. Attached is the illustration I got so you can visualize what to expect during the first month after microblading.
- After 7 days, it will lose up to 20% of its intensity and fades naturally
- Complete healing is usually experienced after 4 weeks and retouching is necessary to correct and add pigment that was lost
- Peeling is normal, but we want to minimize scab formation which is why cleansing the area with cotton and water is very important, as well as the application of the aftercare ointment.
- Use of eyebrow liner or powder to fill in gaps only after completely dry and healed
- Apply ointment 3-5 times daily in the next 7 days
- Expect some pigment and colored lymph fluids on the moistened wipes or swabs after cleaning
- Excess lymph fluids should be gently wiped off to prevent the formation of scabs
- Microbladed brows typically last from 6 to 12 months before another touch-up is needed to maintain the look.

What are the benefits of undergoing this procedure?
Eyebrow Microblading or Embroidery has become a trend. There are even brow makeups that mimic the microbladed look. Once done correctly, you will have shorter preparation time in the morning and you can literally wake up with makeup. Something most of us wants, being the busy women that we are, time is precious.
-
What are the drawbacks of undergoing this procedure?
Personally, we do not see any drawbacks. As long as you find an artist that is certified and properly trained, you should be happy with the outcome of your eyebrows. Choose wisely.
-
What are the risks and complications?
There are rare cases of sensitivity or allergic reaction to the anesthesia or the pigment, in which case, the patient should inform the artist about this beforehand so a skin test could be done prior to the treatment. In any case, we have an in-house dermatologist who can help with any untoward reaction. Infections are rare because we use sterilized and disposable tools in the clinic. Just make sure to clean with cotton, water, and mild facial wash to ensure hassle-free microblading experience.
-
Who are suitable for this procedure?
I highly recommend eyebrow microblading to anyone who wants symmetrical and well-shaped eyebrows.
-
If I have a previous eyebrow tattoo, can I still have microblading done?
Eyebrow microblading is ideal for patients with dry to normal skin. It’s not recommended for patients with oily, acne-prone skin. As the healed results tend to blur a little. Those with previous tattoos may need to undergo tattoo removal via Laser Or peeling unless the color is light enough for the artist to work on.
Remember That eyebrow microblading, embroidery Or tattoo is a work of art. Different artists have varying Style so choose wisely and work with someone with proper certification and training. And work with someone you trust!

Yes, but it will be best if we can see her brows in person. Make sure as well she is also in good shape and you can let our team know if she is taking any maintenance.
