A Punch Biopsy is a quick, minimally invasive procedure that removes a small, circular sample of skin tissue for diagnostic or cosmetic purposes.
It’s often recommended for suspicious moles, skin growths, or lesions to confirm a diagnosis, or to completely remove small skin abnormalities while minimizing scarring.
Treatment Details
Duration – 15 to 30 minutes
Interval – One-time procedure (or as advised by your dermatologist)
Downtime – Mild redness or scabbing for 5 to 7 days
How It Works
After cleansing and numbing the area with a local anesthetic, your dermatologist uses a sterile, circular blade (punch tool) to remove a small, full-thickness section of skin. The sample is then sent for laboratory evaluation if needed. The site may be closed with a tiny suture or allowed to heal naturally, depending on the size of the specimen.
